The matchmaking is excellent and we had no trouble getting an enjoyable game at almost any time of day. If you’re only going to be playing Wildlands on your own we really wouldn’t bother, but if you’re worried you don’t have three suitably skilled friends that’s less of the problem. They can each be given specific orders, but these are quite limited and hidden away in a radial menu that the game is not quick to remind you about. Playing on your own, the three allies you’re lumbered with are no more competent and sometimes it feels like you’re a teacher on a school trip herding your recalcitrant charges along and being pleasantly surprised when they do what they’re told or, more rarely, show some initiative.
